You traveled every mile
For thirteen years
Trucking was all you knew
Companion always
In so many ways
Good listener
Dozens of little expressions
Added to the conversation
Unconditional lover
Quirky as hell
The big sigh and pout
Your food dish
Slightly out of position
New seat cover
Radio to loud
Circle three times before perching
Lousy guard dog
The wagging tail
A give away
Nose prints on the window
Every mile after you passed
Were never quite the same
Robert, I am so glad you had companionship on all those miles you travelled. I so know the way they make their feelings known. Smiles. Nose prints on the window, yes! And how much more alone you must have felt, once your companiuon was gone. I know I do. I just cant get over the loss. Thank you for this. It moved me and brought tears. How lucky we were to have had those years!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing dogs smiling out of truck windows, ears blowing in the wind! Nice one, Robert!
ReplyDeleteThose first few miles after they are gone are so unbelievably hard. It hurt like hell after I lost my Faye. I still miss her.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, those nose prints left behind, they're enough to break a heart right in two. is that your dog in the picture? What a total cutie pie.
ReplyDeletehe was a charmer... :)
DeleteLove your nose prints on the window. It seems like so much leaves a house when the dog is no longer there. And yes, they are the very best listeners!
ReplyDeleteHa.. that wagging tail is not a sign of a guard dog... hmm wonder if a guard cat could be used.
ReplyDeleteLuv the nose print focus, Robert
ReplyDeleteMuch♥️love
Nose prints on the window paints the whole picture.
ReplyDeleteA wagging tail...not quite the picture of aggression. They leave such a hole in the heart. Beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteThey will leave a lasting impression and unforgettable memories despite not having been a good guard dog! The mark of a friendly dog!
