Maze of Thorns

It can be a journey
The path treacherous
Missteps will draw blood
Each prick
A drain on your desire
Will you cower in retreat
Or plod forward
Where daylight is lit by dragon fire
The nights filled
With black thundering hoofs
Ghostly guardians on the prowl
Lost you will be
If you find the sea
Where Neptune's devil sleeps
Day one ,day two
Day three do pass
Fatigue rides you hard
Clouding your mind
In a dirty fog
Making choices
A jury trial of voices
Until the Gods smile
And you reach the hub
To grasp the scroll
In shaking hands
To afraid to read the script

  1. As abstract as it was (to me) it all made sense when I read
    "And you reach the hub
    To grasp the scroll
    In shaking hands"
    I thought that was powerful.

  2. Yes - being afraid to read the script is powerful. One never knows what the plot will be when one reads it.

After going through the works one is often too afraid to know the truth. It may turn out contrary to expectations. Very true Robert!

  6. Beautifully rendered! An intriguing piece that, for me, could be pinned to any number of journeys.

  7. I am sure some of us can write a brief biography of our lives like this. Presumably the scroll listed their misdeeds.(P.S. I read the last line as "Too afraid to read...")

  9. I love how the title adds to the painful journey... in the back of my mind I see Snowwhite running through the woods.
