At One Time

You offer from
A chalice of mystery
Alluring aroma
Shields intent
From my soul
At one time
The fiery ego of youth
Would sip
Not now
For time has mellowed
Muting my thirst

  2. You've captured a lot of nuances and layers in so few lines. I like how this could be simply about a strong cup of coffee or a metaphor for adventures that arise in life. Well done and viva la!

  6. This is a brilliant little piece. The thirst for a sip from the chalice of mystery does, indeed, abate with time. Love where you went with this.

  9. I find a lot of people saying what I was thinking too. Time muting the need for mystery and its attendant perils.
